Cover of The Wee Kirkcudbright Centipede
The wonderful song by Matt McGinn has been entertaining children and adults for more than 50 years. Foggie Toddle Books was given permission from the family to create a picture book based on the song. The lino cut illustrations have been created by multi-media artist Fran Raw.
The song tells the story of a centipede who is a wonderful dancer who entertains her friends every morning. But her neighbour Jenny Long Legs is jealous of her ability and she tries, and fails, to work out how she does it. When she asks the Wee Kirkcudbright Centipede to explain, that leads the poor thing into a terrible fankle leading to the conclusion that you should never try to explain what comes naturally. The book includes the original score for the song so you can join in with the song.
The first 50 books ordered through the website will receive a wiggly centipede (that’s a toy not a real centipede!).
