Poet John Atkinson
Under our Second Sands imprint we are delighted to publish John Atkinson’s second collection of poetry – In Tooth and Claw. Originally born in Yorkshire, John now lives in south west Scotland where the landscape and coastline provide inspiration for his writing. Growing up on a family farm led to a love of wildlife – often the subject of his poetry.
The Leveret
Once I saw, upright on hind legs, a hare
her gaze fixed over acres of meadow
where crows circled in a menacing air.
