Warmest Wishes for the Festive Season

I’m sure you’ll agree we have a wonderful Christmas window this year, created by the very talented Lou Martin who is not only at the heart of the success of Foggie Toddle Books, but also runs New Chapter Books in Wigtown with her husband Breagle (nickname by the way). The tartan stockings were created by another amazing woman, Magghi Maclean, who is also an indispensable part of the team, and goes under the name of Puffin Patchworks. We’ve had quite a few requests for the stockings but they are all named for members of the team and will be taken home on Christmas Eve in the hope that Santa calls. Magghi is planning to respond to the demand, though, and will be sewing like crazy during spring to have them for sale for the next festive season.

We will be open on Monday and again on Saturday (normal hours) Christmas Eve from 10am to 3pm but we’re closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Friday. We’ll be open again on Monday and Hogmanny. For anyone seeking last minute bargains we’ll be offering half price on all Christmas books from Saturday 21st December.

Don’t forget we have fabulous Christmas decorations made by Fran Raw (another amazing team member who stepped in during the annual book festival), including angels, snowflakes and trees. We have fair trade characters for your tree from Namaste, and lots of lovely local crafts and art to choose from along with our excellent selection of books, new and vintage.

It has been a challenging year for small businesses with large fluctuations in trade including a very quiet November and December so we want to thank everyone who has been to Foggie Toddle Books this year and to all our online customers.

A Big Thank You to our lovely local artists and crafters and to my very wonderful team – Lou, Isabelle, Fran and Magghi – I couldn’t do this without you. Also a big thank you to all the artists, illustrators and authors who I work with on the publishing side of the business. Lots more to come in 2025.
