Like many other businesses in Scotland we are currently temporarily closed due to COVID-19 but we have not stopped trading. We are happy to source and supply books by post. Just contact me through facebook or by email and I’ll see what I can do. We have a large selection of new and pre-loved books in stock.
I took over as sole trader of the shop, which was previously called Curly Tale Books Ltd, at the beginning of April – not the best timing! I’ll be making a few adjustments to the layout over the next couple of weeks so that when the shop re-opens you’ll be able to browse the stock safely. What’s also very exciting is that the third room in the shop will now become another display space.
This was previously taken up as storage for the publishing side of the previous business partnership but we’re hoping to use it for small workshops (when that becomes possible again) and as an improved area for showcasing the work of artists and crafters from throughout Dumfries and Galloway. I am also working with some of the most talented professional local artists in the region. The new shop sign is being hand-painted by Will Gorman who has an excellent reputation for his humorous country sports themed work and much-admired pet portraits.
I’ve also been working in collaboration with artist and illustrator Pauline Paterson of Thistle Heart Prints to produce a fabulous new mug and coaster design for Wigtown. Look out for these on this website shop shortly. I’m also working with Pauline on a new card range and on a really exciting project with artist and designer Caroline Smith – but more of that in a future post! Stay safe and keep reading.
